Manchester United faced their first defeat of the Premier League season against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils had an inconsistent performance in the final third and ultimately lost 2-1 due to a stoppage-time goal from Joao Pedro.
Despite the defeat, there were some encouraging aspects. Amad Diallo missed a significant chance in the first half but made up for it with an equalizer.
Noussair Mazraoui continued to impress as right-back, assisting Diallo’s deflected goal at the hour mark.
Additionally, Diogo Dalot delivered a notable performance at left-back. The 25-year-old was arguably the standout player for the club.
Dalot had 81 touches, achieved a 90% passing accuracy, won six ground and aerial duels, and successfully completed all his tackles (2/2).
He was unlucky not to record an assist after providing a perfect left-footed cross to Diallo, who missed the opportunity in the box.
Dalot also made a remarkable goal-line clearance when Brighton was leading 1-0.
His performance was nearly flawless, except for one key moment. He was out of position in stoppage time, allowing Pedro an uncontested shot in the box.
This defeat represents United’s fifth loss in six league encounters with Brighton, and they need to quickly overcome this setback as a crucial derby approaches.
The Red Devils will face Liverpool at Old Trafford before the international break, and fans will expect a strong response after the loss to Brighton.
